Legal literacy campaign by APSLS
ITANAGAR, Jul 26: Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services (APSLS) authority conducted
a one day legal literacy programme for the students of class VI to class IX to make
make them aware about legal rights and duties under the state plan of action of 2014-
The resource persons informed the students about legal aids and schemes of AP Legal Services Authority, Juvenile Justice Act and Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme 2011. The resource persons also spoke on national integration, human rights, fundamental duties etc.
District and Session Judge (Yupia) cum Member Secretary, APSLSA Budi Habung dwelt on aspects of legal services activities and the role of the state authorities. He advised the students to spread and make people aware about various legal aids and service provided by APSLSA them.
He informed that the State Legal Services Authority would be bringing out a booklet for the students of Class IX to XI which would help them understand the laws better.
Principal of the school Tagin Tatan urged State Legal Services Authority conduct more such programme for the students of higher classes. He asked the students to use the knowledge gained by them.
Brouchers on legal aid were distributed among the students. A film on national integration and domestic violence was screened on the day.
Around 300 students along with their teacher attended the programme.
ABKLSU demands early completion of road works

The road project under PMGSY which was started in 2010 by Rural Works Department, Seppa division has remained incomplete till date, the ABKLSU memorandum said.
Highlighting the hardship faced by the people of the three circles due to lack of proper road communication, the students’ union appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to do the needful for immediate completion of the road project.
The union also demanded the Deputy Commissioner for providing regular power supply at Bameng and Khenewa Townships. Alleging that electricity is supplied during visit of VIPs only, the union urged the Deputy Commissioner to solve the electricity problem as soon as possible.
Other demands included posting of sufficient teachers in various schools of Bameng, providing sufficient infrastructure, drinking water facility, staff quarters, school furniture, proper implementation of midday meal schemes, posting of medical staff with basic healthcare facilities at Khenewa Health Centre. It also urged the Deputy Commissioner to instruct government employees posted in Bameng to stay in their respective place of posting without any delay.

ITANAGAR, Jul 26: In a tragic fire accident broke out at Lachung Yangje village under Seppa Circle on 25 July, a dwelling house of one Yadap Lingfa was reportedly gutted down. It said that fire broke out around 8 am when owner was at Church. The source of fire accident is yet to be known; however it was believed to be started from the kitchen. All belongings such as valuable ornaments including a pig were burnt down to ashes during the fire accident. Tuki assures early disbursement of pension benefits

ITANAGAR, Jul 26: Responding to the question raised by 38th Pasighat MLA Kaling Moyong regarding issuance of pension, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today informed the Assembly that the finance department/ Directorate of Audit & Pension is issuing guidelines and instructions to all HoDs/ HOOs for timely processing of pension cases. The government through ATI is also imparting regular training to clerical and supervisory level officials and computerization of pension in the Directorate of Audit and Pension to create date base for pensioners and employees is now in progress.
Tuki further informed that the government is taking up necessary step for early issuance of pension. He assured that the pensioners will get their pension immediately just after their retirement for the service.
Earlier, in his question Moyong said that the retired employees who have rendered their precious service to the state struggle even for a year to get their pension and other retirement benefits.
The government of Arunachal Pradesh has adopted central civil service (pension) rules wherein it is clearly given that all the relevant paper works should be completed six months before the date of retirement. But in spite of clear provision of pension rule and recommendations for easy and speedy finalization of pension the pensioners are getting tough to get their genuine pension and other retirement benefits from the Directorate of Audit & Pension.

ZIRO, Jul 26: Tourist inflow to Ziro Valley has increased significantly in the last two years with about 10,000 domestic and 7,000 overseas tourists visiting the valley each year. The other reason for the development is active involvement of District Tourism Officer Tater Mize, who takes pain in disseminating the knowledge to people on the importance of tourism in the district. With his vision to make the place a tourist friendly, he is keeping liaison with hoteliers, local NGOs and general public.
In an interview, he said that the district has got great potentiality especially in eco tourism such as rafting, tracking, rock climbing etc and ‘bird watching’. Out of 650 bird species in Arunachal, 310 species are found in this district alone of them 90% are migratory.
Earlier, the local amateur birders took the interested tourist to Kaziranga National Park, Assam for watching birds. Gradually, the tourists, who are interested in bird watching, are showing interest in Ziro Valley. It is likely that the tourists for bird watching may increase in near future, which will be greatly beneficial to the local unemployed youths, he said.
As far as rural tourism is concerned, the people of the district have learned the concept of Home Stay. As most of the oversea tourists prefer Home Stay, we encourage people to take interest in rural tourism. However, there is still miles to go to reach the goal.
Earlier, the trainees were sent to Sikkim after giving them training on home stay at the Directorate of Tourism at Itanagar, But from last year, the trainees have been sent here to Ziro to get the practical knowledge on Home Stays.
Apart from tourism department, local NGOs – Ngunu Ziro and Rural Tourism Management Committee are also working seriously to improve the rural tourism in Ziro, he disclosed.
Saying that ‘tourism and cleanliness’ are two sides of same coin, he urged local citizen to emphasize in maintaining cleanliness of the place as tourist will not prepare to visit a filthy place. Besides cleanliness, hospitality of the people is equally important to attract tourists. If there is hospitality and welcoming gesture from the host people, it is sure that the tourists will pass a positive message to others who would in turn like to visit the place. Talking about inclusion of Apatani Cultural & Landscape in the tentative list of World Heritage Site, he opined that tourists inflow will shoot up to very high if UNECO accepts the proposal. He suggested people of the district to keep the habit of behaving well with the tourist and show hospitality to them by keeping in mind this slogan ‘Received the tourist as a guest and send them back as a friend’ in every ones mind.
IDAPF conducts awareness meet on hydro project
ITANAGAR, Jul 26: Immediate Downstream Affected People’s Forum (IDAPF) of Talong-
Ahead of the proposed public hearing on July 28, the people living downstream appealed to the district administration to arrange separate public hearing so that all their grievances can be redressed properly. They said the project affected people had no specific information about it for which they will be unable to place their grievances due to shortage of time, IDAPF said.
Further, the Social and Environment Impact Assessments by GMR is not satisfactory, the IDAPF said, and demanded that anything which come within the radius of 10km from the project should be included as actual project affected and, accordingly, compensation and other benefits should be provided to them.
IDAPF also worried about the extinction of aquatic animals, including different migratory
fish species and plants due to the proposed 226MW project. The villagers, including
from Fachang, Tabri, Attangrang, Pachi Camp, Baro camp, Mangkhya and Chudo camp and

IADPF also accused the authority for not taking into account the various grievances of the people living downstream which is unfair.
Many speakers shared their opinions on future impact of the project such as influx of migrant labourers causing security threat to the local people, exploitation of natural resources, displacement of human settlement etc.
Addressing the meeting, IDAPF chairman Lota Signhi highlighted the possible threat posed by the dam on downstream and urged the government to assess the downstream impact of the dam thoroughly to instil a sense security in the minds of the people.
We do not oppose the project but demand for proper assessment on environmental, social, demographical impact and consequences of the dam before conducting the public hearing, added IDAPF.

Students sensitized on voluntary blood donation
ITANAGAR, Jul 26: The students, particularly seniors, have been sensitized about the importance of voluntary blood donation in a programme organized by Vivekananda Yuva Shakti, an NGO working in the field of voluntary blood donation, at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV), Chimpu near here today.
Blood Bank Officer of Arunachal State Hospital Dr. P Sona explained in details about voluntary blood donation and its importance through PowerPoint presentation. He answered many queries regarding blood and blood donation from the inquisitive school children..
Chairman of Vivekananda Yuva Shakti Ramesh Jeke highlighted the importance of blood donation and the scarcity of blood in the blood banks and exhorted the students to donate blood for the greater cause of the humanity. He also narrated his experience and the problem faced by the RK Mission Hospital and the Arunachal State Hospital due to shortage of blood.

any healthy individual between the age group of 18-
